What are you most afraid to say outloud?
What do you see that’s broken about the status quo of your industry?
Consider yourself the unabashed child in the story of The Emperor’s New Clothes. The one who sees and has the courage to say what everyone else pretends doesn’t exist.
Using the process of Proprioceptive Writing (PW), you’ll address questions that challenge mainstream assumptions and the status quo in your industry. You’ll explore new ways of thinking and expressing your particular and unique stance so you can clarify your “soapbox.”
Purpose: To recognize and appreciate your authentic voice. To reconnect with your innate curiosity and creativity. To uncover/recover/discover a new clarity about your Big Why and your next best expression of you and your business.
The end product of this course is the basic outline of your manifesto — something you’ll use to build pillar content around such as a book or TED-like talk. You’ll also generate loads of topic ideas for further content creation (e.g., blog posts, email newsletters, podcasts, videos, etc.)
This course includes four weeks of daily writing assignments plus three 90-min teaching/discussion sessions:
- Tuesday, January 12th @ 9:00 a.m. PST
- Tuesday, January 26th @ 9:00 a.m. PST
- Tuesday, February 9th @ 9:00 a.m. PST
All meetings will be accessible by phone or internet (using Uberconference); recorded and available for your review the same day.
Writing assignments will be shared via comments to lessons on this website. Participants will work in small groups of six (assigned) to give each other feedback.
We’ll also use our private Facebook group to delve further and deeper, if necessary.
1. Each writing/thinking assignment will ask you to post something (a portion of your PW writing, for example) in a comment on that page.
2. Yes, you can find your assigned small group here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Yf4XDyZ_VIODmKKmcrmHUycGNl79Mww26VzRZYYmRqE/edit?usp=sharing
3. The weekly assignments are meant as a guideline. You aren’t required to complete all of them in any given week. However, if you want feedback from your smaller group, you’ll want to complete them by that weekend. My intention is to have everyone give feedback on Mondays. Then, new assignments are available on Tuesdays. (We will discuss this in more detail at our first live session.)
